was born on 28 June 1971.
He obtained his law degree at the University of Antwerp (U.I.A.) in 1994
and a postgraduate degree in Criminology at the University of Ghent in
1995.
He was employed as a Scientific Collaborator at the Department of Criminology
and Criminal Law of the University of Ghent and a Colloborator of the
Committee of Criminal Procedure (a.k.a.Committee Franchimont) from 1994
untill 1998. He was an instructor at the Oost-Vlaamse Politieacademy (Introduction
to Criminal Law) and has prepared several bills in the field of Criminal
Procedure Law for the Minister of Justice. He is member of the editorial
staff of Strafrecht geannoteerd and a member of the Board of Directors
of the Belgian-Luxemburg Union for Criminal Law.
He joined the Antwerp bar in 1995, where he practised law, specialising
as a criminal defence advocate with a broad ranging practice in criminal
cases. He regularly publishes articles on criminal law.
